What is the difference between refinishing and resurfacing?

Hardwood floor refinishing - this is the heavy duty wood floor makeover. How to refinish hardwood floors

The first step is going to be the prep work. Safety first. We are going to hammer down any protruding nails that may have lifted up over time. Next, we'll remove floor debris with a vacuum cleaner and mop. We want the wood flooring to be clean and ready for the next steps. Next, we are going to seal off doors and vents to keep dust from settling onto the work space, interfering with the refinishing process.

Next, we typically pull up the baseboards where the floor meets the wall. This ensures that we won't damage your baseboards during the process. If however, we deem the baseboards safe to leave, we will leave them on the edges of the room.

Now we are going to rough-sand the floor. To do this, we will use a drum sander or a belt sander, whichever works best for your flooring.
